Building the language of feelings
Helping children understand how they feel starts with giving them the words to describe what they notice in their bodies. This resource introduces simple body part vocabulary alongside adjectives that can help children identify and communicate different sensations and feelings.
By building this language, we can support children to notice what is happening in their bodies, begin to make connections between physical sensations and emotions, and take those first steps towards understanding regulation.
Download our body parts and adjectives posters to support conversation around body awareness, feelings and regulation.
